D.C. Bound

Standard

This past weekend I took a roadtrip to the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.  There were over 100 authors in attendance and we spent the day listening to many speak and waiting in line for a signed book.  There were kids everywhere, enjoying the cast of Choo Choo Soul, book characters like Arthur and Clifford, and seeing famous authors such as Mary Pope Osborne (Magic Tree House) and Wimpy Kid’s Jeff Kinney.  In addition to all of these kid-approved folks, there were award winning adult authors including Lisa Scottoline and Sandra Cisneros.  I would highly recommend taking the road trip next year if you’re able.  Check out the link for more information!

The False Prince is the Real Deal!

Standard

I love to read…love, love, love to read.  You can usually find me devouring children’s and young adult books at any point in the day.  One of my favorite parts about a good book is the ability to share it with others.  I just finished Jennifer Nielsen’s The False Prince, and I can’t wait for you to discover it, as well!  I’d recommend this for kids 8+ and you parents are going to want to get your hands on it, too!  In a nutshell, the story follows three young orphans who have been chosen by a shady character to impersonate a prince who has been killed.  HA!  Not all is as it seems!  Get your hands on this one, now!

Have you heard of goodreads.com?  I am a huge fan and use the site daily.  You can keep a virtual bookshelf with what you’ve read and what you want to read, rate your titles and share with friends.  You can follow my bookshelf on this blog or you can check it out and look me up!  I’m under “missmeganonthemoon.”  I’d love to swap titles with you!

Questyinz Rocked!

Standard

We did it!  Questyinz was a hit in Moon Township!  We had the 2nd highest number of participants in the county and I want to thank all of you who supported this new venture.  The librarians involved worked super hard on this year’s new summer game, and it was a success!  We are hard at work putting together Questyinz 2.0 for the 2013 summer season.  It will feature even more cool gadgets and we are ironing out the kinks from our first version.

I received so much positive feedback from kids and parents, and it was tremendous to have you all on board.  I hope that you had fun and learned new and interesting things over the summer!  We can’t wait to play Questyinz again next year!
